2009.08.13 Wat Phra Kaew - Emerald Buddha, and The Grand Palace

The Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha Temple were located on the same site

the white wall surrounding the location
when visiting this location,
visitor need to wear appropriate clothes, long pants for man,
and ehm...no sexy clothes for the ladies.
but if you don't have those clothes with you, you can always borrow them for free
hubby with his rental pants... XD~
the entrance were so crowded by the visitors
endless decorative murals along the wall,
i especially like the details they put on the costumes
pink lotus for praying
the architecture on the entrance of the temple was amazingly beautiful
the guide told us that these are 3 different types of architecture of 3 different countries
Inside the temple, it was dominated with gold color,
very regal ;))
thanks to the rental clothes, we looked like a happy farmers couple here...lol
I love those elephants, so lovely ;D

with the model of Angkor Wat,
i really wish to visit the real one someday ;))
the colored-mirror decoration was really shimmery...it almost feel like Christmas ;p
supported by the demons and the monkeys,
do you know which one are they??
ok, so the demons were wearing shoes,
and the monkeys were in bare feet
The Murals of Ramayana epic story along the wall
this guy was doing some renovation on the chipped paints,
i was jealous because he had a fan to cooling him down...arrrghh...so hot over there!!
this is where they keep the Emerald Buddha
you can enter the room and pray, but not allowed to take any picture,
the Emerald Buddha was much smaller than i though it would be...
(thi picture taken from outside)
eventually, they will dress the Buddha differently according to the season,
the clothes were made out of gold
outside the room
...and now we are walking toward the Grand Palace
this building was inside a locked gate,
and they still use this for hosting the royal guests
there were a lot of Chinese-like decoration along the way
the connected gate to the Grand Palace
this stage uses by the King to climbs up to the elephant's back
inside the palace,
western influenced building with traditional roof
the traditional weapons from ancient time
the changing shift of the guards
more view from the palace
fresh graduated students taking cute picture
very interesting bouquet made out of money...
i want this on my graduation too!! XD~
outside, waiting for our van
